Punta Mita is one of our favorite family destinations in Mexico. Located in Bahía de Banderas, just a 2.5-hour drive from Guadalajara and 30 minutes from Puerto Vallarta airport, this exclusive peninsula is home to some of the most spectacular luxury developments and resorts in the country. 🌊🚗✈️
For our summer vacation, we decided to book at Conrad Punta Mita motivated by one key draw for my 4-year-old daughter: its water slide 🛝💦. Although on a previous trip we stayed at The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort (a beautiful hotel, though with a more adult-oriented atmosphere), this time we were looking for an alternative designed 100% for families with small kids. 👨👩👧👧✨
I also invite you to read my recent article on another hotel in the area: The St. Regis Punta Mita with Kids: Honest Review, Logistics Tips and What Nobody Tells You.
🛏️ First impressions and room
The experience begins on arrival: parking is included and the access road leads to an open, imposing lobby with ocean views. 🌅 The welcome is extremely warm: a refreshing drink for the adults 🍹 and a mini frozen popsicle for the kids 🍧. From the very first moment the resort’s profile is clear: a relaxed environment for families. 🌴
Our room on the third floor felt spacious and very functional. The private terrace with ocean views and the layout with a king bed and sofa bed made the space feel comfortable, even after setting up the crib. 🌊🛌
- 🍼 Family check-in tip: Don’t hesitate to request baby items from the moment you arrive. At check-in we asked for a crib for our 8-month-old baby and, within a couple of hours, it was perfectly assembled and set up in the room. ✨

🍽️ Dining experience
In my opinion, Punta Mita is a destination designed to be enjoyed without leaving the resort, so a varied culinary offering is essential. At Conrad Punta Mita the selection is diverse, although, to be completely honest, I didn’t find it spectacular. 🥑🥗
A big plus: kids eat free from the children’s menu at participating restaurants (Árbol, Paleta and Mesquite). Although adult prices are high, this benefit balances out the family bill quite a bit. 💳👶

- 🥣 Tip for traveling with babies: If you’re traveling with a baby, ask about freshly prepared purees. The chef at Mesquite freshly prepared a natural chayote puree that my baby loved. 👶💚

🍴 Where to eat at the resort
- 🥐 Breakfast buffet at Árbol: Varied, fresh and with options for every taste. ☕🍳
- ⏰ Logistics tip: They open at 7:00 a.m. If you go early you can enjoy it calmly; around 10:00 a.m. it usually fills up and a line forms to get in.
- 🍕 Paleta (Poolside lunch): A casual atmosphere, ideal for midday. The highlights are its fresh ceviches, and for the kids, the pizza and the variety of frozen popsicles. 🍦☀️
- ⚠️ Detail to consider: By rule they don’t allow sitting inside with a wet swimsuit, which is a bit impractical given its location right by the water.

- 🌮 Lobby Bar / Restaurant (Lunch): It goes unnoticed because it looks like just a cocktail bar, but they serve a la carte food. The food here was among the best of the entire stay (especially the tacos). 🍸
- ⏳ Downside: Since there’s little foot traffic, the service was quite slow; with an 8-month-old baby and a 4-year-old girl, every minute counts.
- 🥩 Mesquite (Family dinner): Specialized in wood-fired cooking and cuts of meat with smoky touches. Facing the sea, it’s lovely for watching the sunset while you have dinner. 🔥🌅

- 🍷 CODEX (Formal dinner / Recommended for adults): The resort’s signature restaurant, hidden among the mangroves. It offers modern pre-Hispanic haute cuisine and a tasting menu. It requires a reservation and an elegant casual dress code; it’s the ideal option for a couples’ getaway taking advantage of the hotel’s babysitting service. ✨🕯️
🎨 Entertainment: Kids Club, pools and beach
🧸 Kids Club
Modern, spacious and very well equipped. They welcome kids ages 4 to 12 at no extra cost and without requiring parents to be present (under staff supervision). During our August stay it was full of kids, which made it easy for my daughter to find playmates instantly. 👧🎉
- 📅 Daily program: Every morning they post the activity schedule in the window so you can plan your day (most are free, like mini spa, UNO tournaments or treasure hunts). 🗺️🃏
- 👶 Babysitting service: For children under 4 or to go out to dinner as a couple at CODEX, you can hire the hotel’s private babysitting service for an extra cost and with a prior reservation at the Concierge. 🛎️
🏊♀️ Pools and water slide
The complex has an adults-only pool, but the family areas are the true heart of the hotel. 💦
- 🛝 The water slide: The favorite attraction for kids and adults alike. It’s a lot of fun, though it’s best to keep a close eye on younger kids, since there isn’t always staff coordinating the turns going down. In my view it’s the star of the hotel; the kids could spend hours going up and down it. 🌟
- ⛲ Splash area: A shallow wading area with gentle fountains, perfect for babies and small kids who don’t swim on their own yet (usually one of the least crowded areas of the hotel). 👶💦
- 🎲 Traveler tip: Near the adults’ area you’ll find a station with board games ready to borrow and play as a family in the shade. 🌴

🏖️ Beach
Unlike other hotels in Punta Mita where the beach tends to be rocky, the beach in front of Conrad is soft and walkable. You can ask to borrow sand toys for the kids directly from the beach team. 🏖️🪣🦀

Something else: the lounge chairs at the Conrad Punta Mita hotel are among the best lounge chairs I’ve ever come across; they’re very comfortable and beautiful, the cushions are bed-quality, and once you lie down on them it’s hard to get up! 😴✨
🌟 Is Conrad Punta Mita worth it with small kids?
Definitely yes. Conrad Punta Mita is a resort I highly recommend if you’re traveling with babies or small kids and looking for a real balance between luxury and family practicality. Although I’d rate the dining offering as acceptable, the experience as a whole outweighs that detail. 💖👨👩👧👧
For the kids, the water slide and the Kids Club are a hit that guarantees days full of entertainment. However, what really makes the difference when you travel with children are the touches that take weight off your shoulders: receiving the crib perfectly assembled and ready for the baby, and having the flexibility of freshly prepared, natural purees for your baby at no extra cost, are those gestures that make family vacations feel smooth and stress-free. 🍼✨🌿
It’s without a doubt a property we would return to for a future family getaway. It manages to let both adults and little ones enjoy the Punta Mita coast at their own pace. 🌊🐚
