If there’s one thing I’ve learned after years of traveling with my daughters, from strolls through Rome, winters in Canada, weekends in Punta Mita, and long walks at Disney, it’s that for me, logistics and practicality are EVERYTHING. 🤍
When you travel with a baby and a small child, the difference between an enjoyable vacation and an exhausting day comes down to how much stuff you decide to carry.
If you’re thinking about buying a high-end stroller and your lifestyle includes traveling, I highly recommend considering the YOYO (currently the YOYO3 by Stokke) — and it’s not just a travel stroller… it’s your everyday city stroller that also happens to be ideal for travel. 🏙️✈️
After more than four years of continuous use in the city and on trips, here’s my most honest review, how it works in a mom’s real life, and what nobody tells you.

🚫 Why conventional strollers are NOT travel strollers (And the mistake of umbrella strollers)
Let’s be completely honest: those big, bulky strollers that I affectionately call “monster trucks” are not travel strollers. In European cities, those big strollers don’t even fit through the narrow sidewalks or even the doors of small shops; they’re impossible to maneuver in elevators, and forget about easily getting them onto a train or subway whenever you need to fold them — I simply would never recommend it if what you want is to travel with babies or small children.
On the other hand, there’s the opposite mistake: buying a super cheap umbrella stroller to “get by.” On our month-long trip through Italy, I watched these strollers end up completely destroyed and bent over the cobblestones and stones of the streets. They’re cheap in the worst sense of the word: they have no suspension, the wheels get stuck at every step, the kids aren’t comfortable, and we have to accept it — if you buy one of these per trip, you end up spending more than you’d like on disposable strollers.
In my experience across Europe, you see the YOYO as the stroller of choice among locals. You see practically no one with big strollers. And that’s because the YOYO is the definition of a 2-in-1: it has the robustness, smoothness, space, and presence of an everyday city stroller, combined with the lightness, size, and fold you need to travel the world. 🌍💫

✨ What makes the YOYO special for travel?
- ✈️ Cabin fold (IATA): It fits in the overhead bin above your seat. You get off the flight, open it in a second with one hand, and start walking without having to wait for airport staff to bring you anything.
- 👜 It’s very light: It comes with its integrated padded strap so you can sling it over your shoulder like just another bag while you hold your little one’s hand.
- 🛞 Maneuverability: The YOYO handles beautifully on all kinds of surfaces. While other strollers shake or get stuck on stones, the YOYO has good cushioning and steering that you can guide with one hand.
- 👶 From newborn to 22 kg: This is an important fact — it’s a product you’ll get your money’s worth from over the years. You can use it from birth with car seat adapters or with its newborn pack / bassinet, and it holds up to 22 kg (around 4 to 5 years old). On my last trip to Disney, I used it with my 4-year-old daughter and the stroller rolls with exactly the same agility.

- 🛍️ Basket: The YOYO has one of the roomiest baskets within the travel stroller range. I toss in my diaper bag and some shopping during my trips without any issue, though in size it doesn’t compete with that of a traditional stroller.
🎒 All kinds of accessories so the stroller grows with your family (and in what order you’ll need them)
Something I love about the YOYO (and about STOKKE brands in general) is that they’re products designed to grow with your baby. It has a wide catalog of accessories designed to adapt to each stage as they grow. 🌱
If I had to organize them in the order you use them as the months and years go by, this would be my recommendation:
- 🚗 Car Seat Adapters (from day 1): A must-have for the first months. They let you take the infant car seat straight out of the car and mount it onto the stroller chassis in a second with a single click.

💡 Mom tip: I use the YOYO net to keep strangers from trying to touch my baby, because believe me, it’s happened to me more than once. People who mean to be kind try to touch your baby — with the net, impossible.

- 🦶 Leg rest extension: This accessory is for 6 months and up, once your baby is facing forward. I used it a ton: it supports their little legs and, above all, when they fall asleep mid-walk, it adjusts upward so they’re completely reclined with their feet stretched out, so their legs aren’t left dangling.

- ☕ Official Cup Holder: It attaches directly to the handlebar, to carry your drink while you walk at ease, or to have the kids’ water bottle on hand without having to open the diaper bag every five minutes. I tried using a generic one, but it doesn’t fit the same — this one is IDEAL for this stroller.

- 🛹 YOYO Board (scooter with detachable seat): It’s an investment worth making if you have two kids of different ages. My daughters are 4 years apart, so when the baby is in the main seat, we attach the board for my older daughter. The best part is that it comes with a small detachable seat, so if she’s tired from walking for hours she can sit, or you simply remove the seat so she can stand. It completely saves you from having to lug around a double stroller.

🤔 I’ve told you a lot about what I like about the stroller — is there anything I don’t like?
I tried to think of things I don’t like about the YOYO for this article to make it fairer, but it was harder than I imagined. It’s just that it’s a product that in my experience has been excellent and I never tire of recommending it. These are the aspects I’d suggest considering:
- 🏷️ It’s a premium stroller and its price reflects that: If you’re planning the expense as if it were only your travel stroller, I’m not sure it’s enough to justify that level of investment. For me, it’s totally worth it if you plan to buy it to replace both your everyday stroller and your travel stroller in a single product, getting your money’s worth from the moment your baby is born.
- ➕ Buying accessories adds up: Something I love about the YOYO is the number of accessories it offers, but each accessory adds to the price. What I’d recommend is starting with the basics and buying what you need according to your needs.
🏆 Verdict: Is the YOYO worth it?
Without hesitating for a second. It’s not just a travel stroller — it’s an everyday stroller that’s also excellent for travel. If traveling is part of your lifestyle, I couldn’t recommend a better stroller. 🤍
