If there’s one thing I’ve learned after years of traveling with my daughters, it’s that for me, logistics and practicality are EVERYTHING. When you travel with babies or small children, bringing the right support gear for your trip completely changes the outlook between a smooth vacation or utter exhaustion. ✈️🌍
Many families make the mistake of thinking a stroller solves everything. And although you know how much I love my Babyzen YOYO (you can read my honest review here after more than 4 years of using the YOYO stroller) or our inseparable portable car seat, the WAYB Pico (you have to check out my WAYB Pico review and why it’s the best travel car seat), there are destinations and moments where a stroller isn’t enough or ends up getting in the way. 🚫🛒
If you ask me what item or gear I’d recommend to a mom planning family trips during her children’s first years of life (based on my experience traveling the world with my little ones), the Ergobaby Omni would probably be in my top 3. 🤍
It’s a very versatile piece, and it’s not really just for travel. With my first daughter, I used it practically every day, and its design lets you use it at different stages, from newborn to toddler. If you’re weighing whether it really justifies its price compared to cheaper options, here I’ll tell you about my real experience, how it works in daily life and on international trips, and why it’s one of the best investments we’ve made. 💫

🗺️ Why do I say there are trips where a stroller isn’t enough?
1. 🚶♀️ Because not all cities are designed for getting around with a stroller
We were in Venice with our 9-month-old baby. It’s a beautiful city, but there are steps at every turn; there are literally no ramps. I watched more than one dad struggling and carrying heavy strollers with kids on top while trying to cross bridge after bridge. Bringing a stroller to Venice isn’t just unviable, it’s exhausting. 🛶🧱

2. 🏰 Disneyland: You have to leave the stroller at the stroller parking lot
I’ll never recommend not bringing a stroller to Disney, but something you may not know if you haven’t been with babies or toddlers is that they have a strict rule: you can’t bring it into attraction or restaurant lines, where you’ll normally spend more time waiting than you’d like. You have to leave it in the designated Stroller Parking area. 🎟️🎠
If you don’t want to end up with a wrecked back, carrying a baby for more than 40 minutes in some lines isn’t an option. With the Ergobaby Omni, the baby goes with you everywhere, takes her naps right on your chest without interruptions, and you enjoy the lines and shows with both hands free. 💤👐

3. 🌲 Family walks or hiking
A baby carrier is essential if you plan to get out into nature or go hiking with your baby or toddler. 🥾⛰️

💡 Why did I choose the Ergobaby Omni among so many options?
If you, like me, are one of those people who likes to research every purchase we make for our children, you’ll know that not all baby carriers are the same. There are many options on the market, but I chose the Ergobaby Omni mainly for these reasons: 🧐🔍
- 🧘♀️ Lumbar support: This is the key point. It has a wide belt with lower back support that distributes your baby’s weight evenly toward your hips, not your shoulders or neck. I’ve worn it for entire hours walking through parks and airports and I never end up in pain.
- 🐣 From newborn with no extra adapters: Unlike other models, the Omni 360 adjusts from 7 lb to 44 lb (3.2 kg to 20 kg) (roughly newborn to 4 years) thanks to an intuitive system of internal Velcro and buttons.
- 👫 Both my husband and I can use it: It’s very easy to switch the configuration from my body to his in a matter of seconds.
- 🔄 The 4 real ergonomic positions:
- 🤱 Facing you (belly to belly): The favorite position for the first months and for naps.
- 👀 Facing forward: Ideal for when they’re more curious and want to see the world, starting at 5 or 6 months.
- 💫 On the hip: Very practical for quick breaks.
- 🎒 On the back: For when they’re heavier toddlers and you head out for a walk or hike.
- 🩺 It’s endorsed by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute: This gave me a lot of peace of mind, knowing that with this carrier I’m not affecting their hip development.

🏡 My favorite everyday uses (beyond travel)
Although for travel it’s a non-negotiable essential, in real life at home we’ve gotten so much out of it: 🧸
- 😴 The magic naps: During those sleep regression stages or growth spurts when they don’t want to be in the crib, putting her in the Ergobaby and taking a few steps around the house was a guarantee that she’d fall asleep in minutes thanks to the warmth and the heartbeat.
- 🛝 Hands-free park afternoons: When you go out to the park with your two daughters, you need to be 100% available to hold your older daughter’s hand, push her on the swings, or watch her on the play structures, while the baby rides comfortably and protected on your chest.
💡 Traveling mom tip: If you’re going to buy this model, choose the Cool Air Mesh version without hesitation. The breathable mesh fabric makes all the difference in keeping both you and your baby from sweating too much, especially in hot climates or during walks. 🌬️☀️
⚖️ Is there anything I don’t like? (My honest balance)
To make a fair review, there’s one detail to consider:
- 🎒 It’s more structured than a wrap: Because it has padded lumbar support and thick straps, it doesn’t fold up as tiny as a lightweight fabric wrap. However, it fits perfectly rolled up in the YOYO’s basket or in a carry-on backpack.
🏆 Verdict: Is the investment worth it?
If you travel or enjoy an active outdoor life with your children, this baby carrier is totally worth it. I recommend buying it from the newborn stage, to make the most of it from day one. It’s definitely among my favorite items to recommend to moms; it’s a piece that will last a long time thanks to its good quality and practicality. 💛🌿
