For us, Whistler has become our go-to winter destination. As I mentioned in my previous post, after several consecutive years visiting during ski season, we know the Blackcomb area and its most exclusive properties very well. 🌲
If you read my Honest Review of the Fairmont Chateau Whistler or checked out The Most Complete Guide to Whistler with Small Kids!, you’ll know that Blackcomb is our favorite area for its quiet atmosphere and family-friendly vibe. The Four Seasons Resort Whistler, with 2 Michelin Keys at the time of this review, is without a doubt the most luxurious hotel in Whistler-Blackcomb. ✨
If, like me, you’re looking for the complete experience when planning a family trip, is this hotel’s luxury enough to make it the best option in the area? Here’s my honest review and my verdict. 👇
🎁 Arrival and a Magical Touch 🧸✨
As you’d expect from a Four Seasons, the lobby is beautiful and cozy. As soon as we arrived we checked in, and when they saw we had a small child, they asked me to come along with her. We arrived at a secret room decorated with a “magical forest” theme, where inside there was a “treasure chest.” They asked my daughter to open the chest, and inside were different plush toys with the brand’s embroidered logo that kids can take home as a souvenir. 🌲🪄
From here it’s clear that the hotel thinks about every detail when it comes to the families who visit. My nanny took my daughter to the magic room every day to pick out a different plush toy, and she was totally welcome! 🥰

🚐 Location and Transportation to Whistler Village 🗺️
The difference between staying in Blackcomb vs. Whistler Village (which for some can be a disadvantage) is that here the atmosphere is quiet and there aren’t as many food or shopping options. This helps you get restful nights with zero party noise, but it also means you’re somewhat separated from the village, and the reality is you end up spending more time at the hotel because of how complicated it is to go out.
To walk to Whistler Village, the trip takes about 15 to 20 minutes along a very pretty wooded path. If you’re out for a leisurely daytime stroll, it’s enjoyable, but doing it several times and with small kids, honestly, isn’t feasible. However, the hotel solves this with two transportation options: 🚶♀️❄️
-
🚗 The private House Car (on demand): The resort has chauffeured SUVs to drop off and pick up guests at no extra cost. IMPORTANT: you have to reserve it, and they don’t always have immediate availability.
I have to mention that we had positive experiences, but also negative ones with this service:
- 👍 Positive: My daughter and her nanny used the daily car service to get to Olympic Plaza more easily (to learn more about the nanny service, you’ll find it in my review The Most Complete Guide to Whistler with Small Kids).
- 👎 Negative: During my stay my daughter got a stomach bug (unrelated to the hotel) and was vomiting. We urgently needed to find a pharmacy, and they denied us the service because someone else was going to use it in a few minutes. They weren’t empathetic at all about the situation, and the people who had reserved it didn’t even show up on time.
-
🚌 The regular complimentary Shuttle: In addition to the private car, the hotel runs shuttles with continuous, direct transfers between the property and different points in the Village in under 5 minutes.
🎿 Ski Logistics: This Is Not a “Ski-in / Ski-out” Hotel ⛷️
Unlike a true ski-in / ski-out where you ski right out the door, like The Westin Resort & Spa, Whistler or the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, the Four Seasons is about a 5-10 minute walk from the Blackcomb base. However, they try to solve this with their Ski Concierge service:
- 🛖 The Ski Concierge at the base: To make up for the distance, the hotel runs a private Ski Concierge located right at the foot of the Blackcomb gondola. When you arrive at this cabin, they put your warm, clean boots on for you (you read that right, they help you put them on!), and have your gear ready so you can head out to ski.
- 🍪 The return: At the end of the day you drop everything off at the base and forget about carrying heavy gear. They also take your boots off and welcome you with hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies (which kids love). ☕✨

🛏️ Rooms and Space: The Best Hotel Room in Whistler-Blackcomb 🪵🔥
If there was one thing the Fairmont Chateau Whistler fell short on in my previous article, it was that the standard rooms feel compact. On the other hand, the Four Seasons Resort Whistler has without a doubt the best hotel room on the mountain:
- 📐 Room size: We stayed in a Superior Room with mountain views, and even as one of the entry-level rooms it’s notably spacious, suite-like, with a fireplace, a sitting area and a private balcony.
- 👨👩👧👦 Family layout: We booked a room with a King-size bed, and it had a double sofa bed. Plus, the room is so spacious that a crib would have fit perfectly, no question.
- 🧳 The closet: A walk-in closet so spacious that there was no problem fitting all the suitcases, the stroller and the whole family’s bulky ski gear.
- 🛁 The bathroom: With a separate deep soaking tub and a separate shower. High-quality amenities, as you’d expect from a Four Seasons. At the time of my stay the hair dryer was a regular one, but I’ve seen online that some people have been given Dyson hair dryers in their rooms.
💡 Traveling mom tip: Through the Concierge before you arrive, you can request baby amenities like a crib, a bottle warmer, a diaper kit with miniature bath products, and kids’ bathrobes matching the adults’. 👶🍼

🏊♀️ Heated Pool, Fire Pits and the Famous Hot Chocolate 🍫🔥
The hotel’s outdoor area is just as impressive as the interior:
- ❄️ The pool: It’s a large outdoor heated pool, surrounded by forest and snow. There are also several family hot tubs. (Downside: there’s no indoor area to keep kids from being fully exposed to the cold.)

- 🧖♀️ Lounger touches: Staff constantly come around offering towels and warm robes straight out of the dryer (this is a true luxury when you step out into the cold).
- 🍡 The family patio: Every afternoon (après-ski) they light the fire pits on the patio for complimentary marshmallow roasting (s’mores).
- ⛄ The iconic Snowman Hot Chocolate: As I recommended in The Most Complete Guide to Whistler with Small Kids, here they serve the famous snowman marshmallow hot chocolate. It’s huge, delicious and kids are fascinated by it. There’s also an adult version with a splash of liquor. ☕🍸

🎮 Kids’ Spaces: Game Room, Arcade and Toddler Zone 🧸🕹️
The resort has an indoor recreation area designed for different ages, divided very practically:
- 🎯 The Game Room / Arcade: This is the favorite of older kids. They have ping-pong tables, foosball, air hockey and arcade-style machines, plus video game consoles and board games.

- 🧩 The Playroom for small kids and toddlers: During winter season they set up a padded area with games designed for the littlest ones.
🍽️ Family Dining Experience 🥞🥩
As I mentioned earlier, the hotel is far from the village restaurants, so we ate many of our meals inside the resort for practicality. Something very positive was that at the time of my booking, kids under 5 ate free.
Honestly, compared to my experience at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, there isn’t as much variety, but there’s no doubt that all the food is delicious and high quality:
- 🍳 Sidecut (The breakfast buffet and dinner): One of the best breakfasts in Whistler. It’s truly delicious and high quality, and it’s the only hotel in the area where I’ve seen a variety of fresh berries on the buffet (kids love them). In the afternoon and evening they offer à la carte service.

- ☕ Burlap Social (Grab & Go): Perfect for quickly grabbing a specialty coffee, cut fruit or ready-to-go sandwiches before heading up the mountain.
- 🥃 The Macallan Bar: Ideal for fans of the whisky brand, perfect for a drink.
- 🍷Complimentary wine tasting: In the afternoons in the Lobby area they offer complimentary local wine tastings.
⚖️ Verdict: Is the Four Seasons Resort Whistler Worth It with Kids? ⭐
Definitely yes, but understanding how it compares to other Blackcomb options:
- ✅ The best: Enormous, cozy rooms, luxury in every detail (having your boots taken off after skiing and being welcomed with warm cookies!), and undeniable attention to families and kids.
- ⚠️ To consider: The hotel is a bit farther away than I’d like; it doesn’t have direct ski-in/ski-out access; there isn’t much restaurant variety.
If your priority is staying at the most luxurious resort in Whistler-Blackcomb, with the best rooms, the best food quality and unique service, the Four Seasons is for you; but if you prefer a more varied dynamic of going out into the village, or having the ski slope literally next door, you’re better off looking at alternatives in the area like the Fairmont Chateau Whistler or The Westin Resort & Spa, Whistler. 🏔️✨
